Today we know it as Mothman, a man-sized, winged beast with glowing red eyes. It’s been spotted in the shadows, it’s been seen soaring over hills through moonlight skies. Although no accounts claim it has ever harmed or threatened anyone, spotters recall being transfixed by the experience. The few who’ve claimed to have seen it report being left with a sense of wonder and a kind of spiritual reckoning. For those living around the area of the Silver Bridge in the 1960’s, the multiple appearances of the Mothman became forever linked to the bridge’s collapse and its aftermath. Yet, just as Eddie Jenkins told us, this wasn’t the first tragedy that’s been connected to this ephemeral creature.
Not by a long shot.
